Shipping Samples To LS-CAT

Sample shipments to/from Argonne have separate requirements according to their status as hazardous or non-hazardous.
Non-Hazardous Materials
Non-hazardous samples (including dry shippers containing no
liquid nitrogen), materials, and tools may be shipped to Argonne, or
transported by the user. Please contact your local transportation
experts for assistance with proper shipping methods.

Weekends and Holidays
Let your LS-CAT staff
contact know your dewar will arrive on the weekend or holiday so that
a gate pass can be arranged for the delivery person. The shipment must
be sent to the Argonne Guest House, addressed to a person in your group
who has a reservation there and strictly following the Non-hazardous Saturday FedEx Delivery Procedure:

If you are not staying at the Argonne Guest House and your host agrees to pick-up your dewar at the local Fedex Office Print & Ship Center,

Hazardous Materials
Users are NOT allowed to bring/ship hazardous or infectious
substances -substances identified as hazardous by DOT or IATA such as
liquid nitrogen, propane, freon or ethane and biological samples that
are identified as hazardous by DOT or CDC- directly to LS-CAT. These
substances have to be shipped to the address given below.
Under no circumstances may users transport a nonexempt
hazardous or bio-hazardous material to the APS in their own
vehicle.
To have a hazardous material shipped to LS-CAT,
please inform the LS-CAT staff contact of shipment and address the
package to:

All substances MUST be packaged and labeled according to
the DOT regulations
or Argonne National Lab Receiving will refuse to accept the
shipment. Please contact your local Safety Office for assistance with
proper shipping methods.
