Create a Shipment

Creating a shipment in ISPyB/Synchweb has a few parts: a Lab Contact, the shipment record itself, and (once it's on its way) shipping labels.

  1. Add a Lab Contact. You'll need at least one on file — see Add a Lab Contact if you haven't done this yet.
  2. Open Shipments. From the proposal dropdown menu, go to the Shipments page.
  3. Click Add Shipment to start a new shipment record.
  4. Fill in the New Shipment form. Choose how you'd like your beamtime scheduled: a scheduled visit, unattended/automated data collection, or another option offered on the form. If you want LS-CAT staff to help plan your session, check “I would like a session to be scheduled” so staff can assess what your visit needs.
  5. Courier details. See LS-CAT's Shipping page for current shipping arrangements and lead times, and fill in courier information accordingly so the dewar arrives with enough time before your session.
  6. Add pucks and samples to the shipment (see Registering Samples), then click Mark as Sent once the dewar is ready to go.
  7. Print shipment labels and any airway bill from ISPyB/Synchweb, and affix them to the dewar before it leaves your lab.

Once your dewar is packed and marked as sent, print the shipment labels here.

New to LS-CAT?

If this is your first shipment under a new proposal, your Lab Contact will need the appropriate role on your LS-CAT membership before they can access the proposal in ISPyB/Synchweb. Reach out to beamtime@ls-cat.org if you're not sure this is set up yet.
